I see a transformation that makes things easier and more affordable to perform the tasks used to generate leads and build lists.

Anything that helps to get a message across makes our job of building teams and downlines more enjoyable.

So in this post I'll just highlight some of these exciting changes we are seeing in this evolution of internet marketing that is taking place in today's world.

The Rise of All-in-One Marketing Tool Suites

This one really got my attention. It really saves a lot of money.

Before, we had to acquire and collect all the tools needed from different sites or platforms. And that got expensive. Autoresponder here, link tracking there, page builder over there, pop-up creator somewhere else. You get the idea.

And of course, hosting ... that was always a stand alone. So you can imagine how this all adds up.

Today though, we know of several all-in-one marketing tool suites that are excellent. The one we chose to use has high quality everything ... even advertising. It is our main hub and it's brilliant.

And so much easier. We can manage and implement our entire strategy all under one roof. No more tool juggling acts to deal with. This is a huge improvement.

The Ongoing Evolution of Social Media

These platform also have paid advertising programs for those that want to widen their reach even further. There really are no limits and it's can all be incredibly efficient when you learn the ins and outs.

The Power of Video Marketing

Video marketing has exploded in popularity. The YouTube platform is the most popular, but there are others. Videos are great for showing off your products, telling your story, doing screen recording tutorials. or just sharing any other content that you wish to share. 

With the advancement of technology, there are a ton of easy to use video editing and production tools. This opens up a whole new world to novice video people. Creating videos that are engaging and that look and sound professional is now doable for anyone.

There are also easy to use and understand video tools and services that help with SEO structure to assist in marketing your videos and will help them go more viral.

These services also help in adding custom captions and sharing capabilities. Some video tools do an incredible job in taking long videos and cutting them up into short snippets for you. Apply these to make shorts and reels for your favorite social platforms. It saves a ton of time and is stress free..

Internet Advertising: Taking The Mystique Out

Demystified the process of placing ads all around may be the most "modern marketing' piece to the whole puzzle, but still "some work and some don't", so that's what we have to figure out.

There are mailers that provide opted-in people to mail to, rotating link posting services, banner ads services, surfing for credits to have your ads shown, solo ad services, and a ton of variations of all these. Some fall under the "paid advertising title, and some are "free advertising.

As you can imagine, paid advertising brings faster and high-quality results, but there are some free advertising services that can be made to work.

At the moment, we are testing a ton of these and will be reporting on results in blog episodes to come.

I've told you why a person would want to take their MLM business online. Now lets talk for a minute about how to get started. We'll start with the bare basics, Step 1, Step, 2 etc, and then we'll discuss some fundamental concepts to follow. 

Your Domain Name - This Is Step 1

Get Your Hosting Account and Set Up Your Blog - Step 2

This is your next step. Creating an identity online, and creating some online real estate. People need to find you if they put your name in a search engine. This is the beginning.

So you need a base. A place to send your traffic and tell people who you are and what you're doing. Start with a simple about me blog post. It doesn't need to be a life story. You can keep it simple for now. Just get started.

The great thing about blog posts is that they are editable, or even removable, at any given time. You can easily add to them, or even take away. There is no pressure. No one cares right now. You are in training. Don't be afraid to tell people that.

You can add your home page and subsequent website pages later but start with a wordpress.org blog. You'll get going in the easiest and fastest way possible..

I use a more advanced hosting account now, but I started with a Hostgator Baby account. This is perfect for a beginner. You can always upgrade at a later time if you decide to stay and take it seriously. 

After a while you'll learn about the importance of a faster site for SEO  and a better user experience. Then you can move away from a shared server and into a more specialized company with dedicated servers. You'll spend a little more, but I know for me it was the best move I ever made. 

You will also appreciate the higher level customer support as well. There's nothing worse than your site going down and not being able to connect with someone that can help ... immediately.

These two steps are vital to starting your MLM business online the right way.

Learn As You Go And Build On Your Momentum

Getting started with MLM online obviously is just the beginning. But if you keep going you'll learn a trade that can benefit you for life.

And as you start learning the trade a couple things will happen to you. You'll get more confident, and you'll begin to see the possibilities. This creates momentum for you as you get more excited.

Here's Your Basic Formula For Starting An MLM Online

If you just get started you will grow and learn and figure it all out. If you continue to wait, taking training after training thinking you can learn it classroom style, you might not make it.

From this home base you will feed all your other online properties by sharing your articles and posts. Picture it like a wheel.  Your base is the hub and the spokes are the paths to all your other platforms.

The other platforms consist of video sharing sites like Youtube, all your social media profiles like Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and Pinterest, newsletters, company owned websites, and Facebook business pages and team groups.

So you share the blog posts and pages out to your other platforms, with links driving the traffic right back to where they originated, Offer the visitors an enticing reason to opt-in to your email list. This is a trade. The visitors email in exchange for your gift (something of value). 

Follow Up, Follow Up, Follow Up

Your #1 goal at your blog is to capture an email address. If your visitors are not comfortable, or learning something, you will not get their email. So you provide quality content that is valuable, or useful in some way. If the visitor finds value in your content, they will leave their email.

Once they subscribe to your list you have permission to stay in some kind of regular contact with them. This is how you well get to know them and let them get to know you. This is a critical piece that so many fail at. The follow-up.

It's also a whole other subject. 

Now You Are Building A Hot Email List Of Interested Prospects 

However, you are still eventually going to have to get those people to a website so they can join your biz opp or purchase your products. And your blog posts which you drive the traffic back to will take care of that for you. Just link to wherever you want people to go.

Why The Blog, And Not The Company Website?

So why do we do it this way? Everyone in an MLM gets a company replicated website where people join and purchase. Why not just send your traffic to those sites?

Many reasons. There are a ton of reasons why it's not a good idea to send your traffic to a company website. 

First of all you don't own that site and you cannot change it or add to it. You cannot tell people about yourself and you cannot collect email addresses to build a list. And that's what it's all about. Here I'll say it again ... the money is in the list.

Even though you are a rep of the company, you absolutely are building your own business. And your business consists of your inventory. Your email list and your followers are your inventory.

 What if something happened and you changed your mind about the company you are with? If you don't own the list you cannot take it with you.

The company you represent simply becomes one of your products. But the list and the followers and the traffic and the domain authority should ALWAYS all belong to you.

Company Websites Cannot Be Optimized For SEO

When they search for something related to your company or product, do you want to be the one that gets shown, or do you want it to be some other rep's site that gets shown?

Silly question right?

The thing is that company replicated sites do not get shown on the Google results. Personal sites and pages do. SEO is a huge part of internet marketing. It's a part that you would not want to ignore. You will want to learn it. If you get good with SEO it can make you rich.

And even though company replicated MLM sites do not work with SEO, you can still build a massive MLM team using SEO.

I'll go so far as to say getting started with MLM online the right way absolutely must include tapping into this organic traffic through search engines. This is what you are working towards. But you have to have the basics first.

Training Is Readily Available, And Free, But Don't Get Stuck In Training!

Don't get me wrong. You will need to read and study and learn. I did, and I do. But just don't get stuck in training. There is nothing worse.

In other words, when you take in a training on a subject, in whatever manner you choose, then implement what you just learned. Do this BEFORE  jumping into another training.

Will you make mistakes? Of course you will. Will you learn from them? Yes! Nothing will break... you can't hurt yourself. Try it and you'll see. Learn how to set up a blog, how to post and market on Facebook, and how to create a Youtube channel and start doing some videos.

Instead of putting things off because you're not really exactly sure what to do, just decide you are getting started with online marketing, and do it. Put some things in motion. 

Take my advice and start with step one and step two. The rest will come to you as you go. It doesn't have to be perfect and it doesn't have to be pretty. Remember ... rapid implementation.

Did I Say The Training Was Free?

Instead, learn how to navigate the net, become resourceful, and find what you need online. It's all there and it's all free. Use Google and Youtube! Do searches with the keywords that you need that day.

This is how I've learned everything I know. By doing searches, reading posts, watching videos, and then doing the thing. This is what you call self-taught, and in my belief is the very best way to learn.

You want to make mistakes. But only the same mistake once :). It's okay you won't break anything. But you will learn from it.

There Are People Willing To Help You Get Started With Your MLM Online

Start with the basics. Work on those things and you'll get comfortable. You'll find what you are good at.

It could be blogging, or social media, or videos.

Learn that thing and learn it well and become an expert at it. Then start adding things to your portfolio. Eventually you will tie it all together.

After working at it for a while your current tasks will become habit. There's a lot of methods that you can incorporate into your daily routine that will gradually get you to the success that you want.

Anyone Can Market An MLM Online

It's true. Anybody can market an MLM online. You don't have to have any experience and you don't have to be some kind of a whiz or guru. You just need to take some simple action steps. I was doing this the slow long hard way ... doing it on my own figuring it all out from scratch. .

You don't have to do it that way. Do it on your own but with the help and guidance of someone who has been through it and who is willing to answer your questions.

It's not necessary for someone to do it for you and you don't need hand holding ... you simply need guidance.

I'm not an expert by any means but I've come a little ways. Not knowing a thing about it when I started I even put a note out that said "hey everyone I'm going to start blogging but i have no idea what i'm doing".

Telling everyone what I was going to do ... means I had to do it.

the best way to learn is to teach what you learn.

I can now see where it is all going and along with a brighter future. If i can help just one person that's very well worth it. I'm helping myself at the same time I'm helping someone else.

Learning as I go and teaching others. You know they say one of the best ways to learn is to teach what you learn. It sticks better. When you learn something, teach another person what you learned. Post about it, blog about it, and video about it.

The side effect to this? You will create a following, which plays right into what you are doing. Team building.

Everyone has strengths .... finding yours is the key. Getting started with your MLM online will help you do that.

the 5-7 hour work week ... Really? No Not Really!

"If it's to be, it's up to me".

I'm the one that has to make this thing happen. And trust me, my mind is going to have to be in the right place. I must be mentally fit, fully prepared, and ready for the challenge.

That's the hard truth about mindset. It's not something that requires a lot of learning. You already know how to work your ass off. You just have to do it now.

Massive action comes in many Different forms

Massive action doesn't always mean a massive recruiting campaign. Often times it does, but not always.

It can also mean brainstorming, developing ideas, learning new skills online and off, learning new tools, creating content, building websites, encouraging and motivating team members, creating relationships, studying the company, the product, and the business model ... and more.

If you are doing these daily then you are taking massive action. Your mind is in the right place. If you're not doing these things, then you'll need to attend some mindset training for success. But just a couple. It's most crucial to take in a training, and then put it into action.

don't get stuck in the training vortex

Training after training after training. eBooks, seminars, recorded calls, conference calls, webinars. Without applying what you are learning.

No, no, no. 

I said it before. I'll say it again. You are better off just doing the thing.

Put the training down and just do the thing. If you do it wrong great! Do it right the next time. Then get better until you get good.

You will develop skill sets that will take you much further than becoming a classroom mindset expert.

I'm not knocking training. it has it's place

I'm no expert. I'm still training and still learning. But a huge part of my training is through application and action taking.

I don't know it all. I simply teach what I learn as I learn it. From experience. Not from reading books. That's how it begins many times, but I won't teach it until after I do it.

Unfortunately there are a lot of trainers out there who don't operate on this principle. Some of them are just selling something.

Conclusion: Mindset training for success ... is it necessary?

So here's my conclusion:

Mindset training, just as any training, can help. There will be plenty of times along your adventure where a specific training will help your forward progress.

Mindset training, just as personal development training, is something that a person can be doing in their spare time, in between income generating activities.

It should never take the place of taking action and becoming self taught through application and performance.

It is the self-taught-through-action routines that will develop you into an experienced marketer faster than anything else.

That is the training that will instill in you much needed skill-sets and that you will remember the most. Learning by doing is unmatched for thoroughness and completeness.

Some people are just really good at connecting and communication on social media platforms. They are practicing techniques that win and they have a knack for it.

Not everyone does. 

However, for those of us who are not natural people magnets, the methods that work can be practiced and learned. These techniques may not make us equal with the "kings of social media", but they can get us into a much better place than we are now.

Facebook marketing beginners will especially need to work on this skill. People that are brand new to Facebook will not know the exact best methods for connecting with other networkers.

Social networking is all about engagement. A lot of new beginner Facebook marketers are not fully keen on or aware of that yet. It is however something that we will be concentrating on throughout this guide.  

It's all programmed in, and it's the engagement that triggers the algorithm. They call this your "reach". Get your reach to go up or expand, and more people are seeing your content. That becomes the objective.

I think it's important to specify now that we are talking about "organic" Facebook marketing, or the free side of Facebook. There is also a side of Facebook that is paid advertising, and things are vastly different on the paid ads side.

That is an altogether different subject though for a different day.

These Facebook beginners are not certain how it can benefit their business and their marketing efforts.  Ensuring that posts get positioned high on news feeds and seen by more people is the goal. And that comes from knowing how to please the algorithm.

Facebook engagement increases your posts positioning and length of time in newsfeed. It’s not so much anymore about the number of contacts you have. That's the way it used to be. But now it's more about  the engagement of the ones you do have. How many are “talking about this”.

To get more likes, comments, and shares on Facebook you need to post in a conversational, inspirational, educational, motivational, or humorous manner. Negativity, whining, and link bombing (here’s my link buy my stuff) will get you nowhere.

If you post like a spammer people will run from you. Or worse, you will get blocked from the very people you need to connect with.

No one wants to get blocked or unfriended. So learn how to post in a way that attracts others. I mentioned above that some people are just naturals at attraction marketing. But for those that are not it really is a skill that can be learned.

A big part of Facebook marketing is leading by example. This goes for beginners and pros. Show your friends how to take the high road. They will learn from you and become loyal followers.

This is an area that a lot of Facebook marketing beginners may need to improve upon. I know that I sure did when first getting started. But if you can correct the bad habits early in your career then you won't remain a beginner for long!

Providing value within your Facebook marketing will create engagement with the right kind of people. Quality content consists of educational posts and training material. Consider conversational topics, surveys, questions, and asking for opinions.

It doesn't make any sense. Facebook marketers, and even beginner Facebook marketers, must learn right away the importance of creating conversation and engagement.

Instead, engage yourself with others and their posts too. Jump into conversations…comment and engage yourself and make friends. Congratulate people on their achievements and tell them they are doing a good job.

When you engage this way it becomes a two-way conversation which keeps it going. This engagement is what Facebook picks up on.

Get to know other business owners and leaders, regardless if you consider them a prospect or not. In fact don’t even judge others as prospects or as to how they can help you. Rather think about how you can help them, or how you can learn from them.

So you see, it does not matter if you are a Facebook marketing beginner or a Facebook marketing pro, it's all about the networking and the engagement.

It’s perfectly ok to talk about your business, if done tactfully. Like everything else there’s a right way and a wrong way.

Unfortunately most Facebook beginners struggle with this one at first.

The wrong way is spam.  “Here’s my link buy my stuff” or “here’s my link join my deal” is definitely NOT the way to say hello. Neither is dropping links without being asked. That will get you nowhere fast.

Tell them who you are and what you are about. If there are common interests the conversation will find it's way to your business. Then you can tell them why they should buy your stuff or join your deal.

And I don’t mean random spammy features and benefits of the program. I mean why they should buy from YOU, or why they should join YOU.

And as I mentioned above, this is one area that is easy to spot the beginner Facebook marketers. It just seems natural when first getting started to throw your biz and your links out there. 

But don't worry, it won't take long to realize there is a better way.

Videos are excellent for creating engagement in the form of likes, shares, and comments. Particularly personal videos but also newsworthy and educational or inspirational videos as well.

At the same time you can show them your strengths and your weaknesses. When you get real like that people can and will relate to you. And they will get to know you better and become real friends.

Maybe talk about how you solved a problem, or how you provided a solution to someone else's problem. People like to hear about others overcoming the odds and figuring things out.

Share how you got started, what you had to learn, and how you learned it. Did you read and study? Did you happen across a video that moved you? Maybe you partnered up with a mentor, or joined a team that included training.

Perhaps there was a course that you took, or a class that you attended. Share how you now want to teach others what you have learned. Share your experiences to empower others.

This is how you will gain followers, and likes and share and comments. It's Facebook networking, aka Facebook marketing.

When you are going to meet a prospect, or attend a training webinar, or seminar, or traveling to a company event or mastermind, take social media with you on the journey.

Include them on what you are learning and being trained on. Share what you are getting out of it and how you are benefiting, and how they could benefit also.

Introduce them to your new friends and family. Take them on your journey and show the way.

This is Facebook marketing at it's finest. Instead of just saying hey I did this and did that, take your contacts with you. Tell them you are about to do this or you are on your way to do that.

Bring them along for the ride. Include them and make it about them as much as about you. This will paint your vision that they can see themselves included in as well.

Any Facebook marketing beginner will notice a huge uptick in their results by practicing these simple suggestions.

More friends seeing, commenting, and sharing your posts which leads to more "friends of friends" seeing your posts.

The more engagement you get, the wider your reach will get. The wider your reach gets, the more engagement you are going to get. And so you see… this can benefit your Facebook marketing a great deal.

You just need to put it into action.

So be personal, friendly and helpful, and provide useful content with your Facebook marketing. It will take you a long way. And if you are a Facebook marketing beginner I sincerely hope you got some value from this post.

Spreading positivity and showing self-confidence will remain popular to those who are searching for a leader. Providing value to the marketplace will never grow old. Anyone who displays skills and can lead and teach will always attract others.

Especially those who are wanting to start a business and need a good sponsor to guide them.

Leaders are still doing it, and prospects are still following it. But all the wanna-be attraction marketers have fallen by the wayside. Those who were talking about it because it was trending are gone now. Just like every other fad.

And just like every other fad, those who are the real practicers are still there practicing. There's just no reason for them to talk about it. When you are doing, you're not talking.

When fads fade away, those that jumped on the bandwagon will go back to business as usual. Before you know it, the idea has left their minds completely. Maybe they tried for a while and it didn't work. Or maybe they just thought that talking about it enough, something might happen.

Although the concept of attraction marketing is alive as much for offline marketing as it is for online marketing, the difference may lie in that offline marketing is more of a constant. It doesn't change a lot.

Online marketing on the other hand is changing at the speed of light. And it's why I believe the practice of attraction marketing is more critical than ever. Internet marketing is highly competitive, and it's technical. It moves fast. What worked last year or even last month might not work today.

Attraction marketing is a marketing strategy that attracts prospects and team mates to you that want what you are offering. Not necessarily just the products you are offering. Rather your expertise and ability to use the internet and the tools that are available to build a team.

So you provide value that others can benefit from. Of course they are going to be attracted to you and your team. If you show people you can help them, teach them, and guide them, they are going to want to work with you.

When people see you have the ability to use the internet and social media to build a business, they will want some of that. So you show them by providing the content. And then when they see you are willing to teach them as your sponsor ... well, that's a pretty good hook.

You both benefit. They join your team and you teach them how to build it. It's a win-win for both.

The scenery has changed over the years. What used to be wide open space has now become elbow to elbow standing room. So has the way things are done on the internet…. what works and what doesn’t.

Attracting others to what we are offering is the bottom line – am I right? And I don't mean to our company and our product. I mean to our ability to teach others how to build a business on the internet.

We absolutely MUST give people a REASON to want to partner up with US, as opposed to the all the others that are also battling for every person’s attention.

What happened with attraction marketing for us is that not only did we realize it must continue, but that we had to get better.

Yes you do have to find a leader that is willing to show and teach. But then you have to be willing to engage and implement. It's up to you to take what the leader is showing you and running with it. They will show you but they will not do it for you. That's your job.

What happened with attraction marketing? Not a darn thing ... it's alive and well and thriving ... and it has to be. There's just no way around it.

Once you learn, then you adopt the attraction marketing mindset yourself. You take over. It's your turn. You'll know what to do. You've been watching it long enough.

When you learn to set yourself apart from the crowd by learning these marketing skills a whole new world will open for you.

But it's imperative. There was a time when a good product, a good opportunity, or a good compensation plan was enough to win over the “opportunists” lurking about on the internet. Not any more.

There are products and opportunities everywhere…some are good and some not so good, but they are everywhere.

It has become a requirement. It is necessary now to separate ourselves and what we are offering from all the others… and it’s you that’s going to make the difference. You MUST be offering something that will attract others to YOU…to give them a reason for choosing YOU over all the others.

Maybe you can relate to this ... “I tried everything my company and upline told me to do. I talked to all my friends and family and I made a list of 100 people I’ve known throughout my life and attempted to contact them about my business. Then I practiced my 30 second elevator speech and tried the 3 foot rule ... and nothing worked.

Then i hit a brick wall and ran out of people to talk to. My sphere of influence is limited. I don’t know a lot of people and I don’t have a lot of connections.” Does this sound familiar? You are frustrated but you still have hope. There must be a better way.

There is nothing worse than chasing people around that have zero interest in what we are offering. It’s an easy call to say that the most qualified prospects are those that are coming to you… not someone you found. Sometimes it’s hard to get, but when you learn and realize that not everyone is a prospect your life will become much easier.

There is a better way. It’s time to take your business online and it’s time to learn the art of attraction marketing. Just think if you could have people asking you about your business …wouldn’t that be a switch.

People buy from people, and repeat business comes from treating those people right ... not from the old burn and churn practice. We stay around, we make ourselves available, we provide support and training, and we continue to offer solutions to problems.

It’s so important today to establish an online identity…even for those who are good offline marketers…why? .. because people sponsor shop, and the first thing they do now is go online and search you out. If you cannot be found they will move on so you better have a decent online presence. It’s just the way it is nowadays.

Often times when a prospect comes to you they have already checked you out online, and they found good quality content so they sought you out. They want that leadership and those people who do come looking for you are infinitely more qualified than anyone that you could ever approach.

Start learning to be that attraction marketer for the new year and the years to come. Make 2019 your year of change.

The training is available and it's all free. We live in the information age. You just need to get a little resourceful and learn how to search online. 

You will and you must acquire the skills needed….develop yourself out. Create your image, your brand, and your niche and bring more to the marketplace…. that’s how you attract business to you. You are the CEO… it starts with you and it ends with you.

Attraction Marketing is a different way of thinking and a different way of doing things. It is aggressive, engaged, action taking. It is mentorship and leadership by example…a different approach to the way you conduct business…and it’s gratifying.

Realize that with you as the CEO … you are the business and you own it. If something were to happen to the company you are representing it’s not complete devastation. 

Is it an inconvenience when a company goes belly up on you? Of course it is but it’s far easier to rebuild when you own the organization…when it’s your list and when all your subscribers look to you as the leader.

Yes the first post was 5 years ago. But nothing much more over the next 3 years after that. It was a struggle back then getting into a rhythm or a routine. But the dream never left my mind.

And now the dream is slowly becoming a reality.

It was 2 years ago that I made the big decision. The decision to quit playing around, get serious and make some shit happen. And then went to work.

Can anyone else relate to that?

Why a first blog post? 

Blogging is crucial. It's your gateway to everything else. Until you learn how to set up and build a full blown site, you can start with a blog. The blog will be your home base that acts as a hub for your network wheel.

You can drive traffic to your blog and build a list there. You can also link out to your other online properties and platforms. This way you are giving your visitors a road map to follow.

Consequently, they will enjoy the ride.

Your first blog post gets you started.

You might like social media already. Maybe you are on Facebook getting a taste for online marketing. Sharing your blog posts on Facebook is an excellent way to mix up your content delivery. You can create a variety of content, and to begin showing yourself as more than just a Facebook poster. 

If you are a blogger, you are becoming a real internet marketer.

Those are words that a guy like me, loves to hear. This particular post is not your in depth step-by-step blogging guide. However, I can point you in that direction. I'll give you a couple of steps right now that will get you to your first blog post.

You need a hosting account. Don't worry it's easy. Get yourself a HostGator "Baby" account. Choose the monthly option for $11.95. This is good for any beginner. 

Your account Control Panel will include the Quick Install software. A super simple 2 step point and click install for WordPress.org. No extra cost.

Get your hosting account, install your WordPress, and write your first blog post. And now you've started. 

Don't download WordPress from the WordPress website .... you will install through your Hostgator C-panel

And don't do what I did. Don't start and then stop. Start and keep going.

Once a person becomes multi-faceted with internet marketing there really are no limits to what can be accomplished. 

But you have to start somewhere. So start now, today. Get that first blog post done and go from there.

Just a couple things to note in the example below that you don't want to do.

Notice the big blocks of text. The paragraphs are too long. And there's no subheadings to break up the text. It makes this very difficult to read and would not score as satisfactory in any areas for SEO.

In addition, there were no images or calls to action on the page. No optimization for keywords either. 

In my defense, it was my first blog post and I knew nothing about SEO, or easy reading scores, or anything else for that matter. 

And it's one of the reasons why I want to keep it around. These are good talking and teaching points.

And after Facebook's recent announcement, those doing it wrong are in danger of getting their pages dinged. Or worse yet their accounts.

... in fact it is pretty darn smart and getting smarter every day. They know what's going on and they know what people are doing when they bait for engagement.

And based upon the feedback of the majority of users, that are taking action.

Facebook has decided to do just the opposite. They will begin penalizing people and pages that are baiting for engagement. ​That is exactly why you should avoid Facebook engagement baiting at all costs.

So the baiters really are not creating engagement that leads to more people seeing their posts. Getting dinged as a baiter by Facebook is causing a lower reach, not a higher one.

The model can more easily detect the engagement bait activities. Those posts will now show less, not more. In addition, chronic abusers' future posts will be negatively affected.

At the time of their announcement, over the next several weeks would be the roll-out of this user-level demotion. That will most likely put it in full operation as of now.

If you are one who is participating in these Facebook engagement baiting methods consider this your warning.

Keep reading we are about to tell you EXACTLY what engagement baiting is, and what to do instead.

First let me say this. There is a disclaimer. Facebook is not trying to penalize or discourage authentic and legitimate posts. Not at all. They want to reward those who are doing it right.

Facebook's goal is not to take the fun out of your experience. Nor are they trying to make it more difficult for you to market your business or your brand in any way. In fact just the opposite.

They want to provide the best user experience possible. They just need you to be genuine and not revert to tactcs that try to circumvent the system.

The baiting tactics go against that objective. They want you to post content that is authentic and relevant to your business or your message, and that has value. This benefits everyone.

So ... back to explaining what Facebook engagement baiting is. Baiting for engagement is a method of goading people into engaging on posts using valueless and irrelevant content to increase their reach on News Feed.

And according to Facebook a lot of users are sick of it. They have watched these tactics go around for too long now.

The result: users are marking those posts as spam. The next result? Facebook is putting a stop to it.

Personally, am not at all surprised to see Facebook taking this action. My only surprise is that it took this long.

Some will question this move. After all, these type posts can be amusing and entertaining. But to a business owner or a person trying to market something, surely they will choose to conform to the wishes of the majority of their audiences. And the feedback from those audiences doesn't lie.

The 5th Facebook engagement baiting method is share baiting. Using a gift or a reward in exchange for sharing a post is to Facebook a form of engagement bait.

It's perfectly okay to ask your audience to share your content if they consider it valuable or helpful to others. But not to receive a gift.

The bottom line is this. Facebook algorithm is smart and getting smarter all the time. If you are posting simply to entice likes, comments, shares, or reactions, no matter how well disguised you think it is, your content will be seen less, not more.

If you are asking questions that you could really care less what the answer is, in an attempt to trick the algorithm, you're better off not doing it.

Facebook is trying to create a better more valuable News Feed for everyone. They consider those tactics counter-productive to their goals.

Besides, are the Facebook engagement baiting techniques mentioned above really helpful to your business, your brand, or your cause anyway?

Creating curiosity in your posts is far more effective. So is asking questions. If those posts are also providing honest value and benefits then you have a double win.

Try to stimulate a readers thought waves enough to encourage engagement.. If you can draw them into a conversation or entice questions back you are achieving your need for engagement.

Putting genuine thought into your posts, and delivering useful and helpful content will provide more satisfactory results for you, your reader, and your business.

Provide education, inspiration, and motivation. Throw some humor and entertainment into the mix and you are well on your way to creating a real following. No baiting required.

Facebook engagement is the interaction that occurs between users. Most prominently on their posts in News Feed. Facebook rewards users that are creating engagment with better reach, allowing more friends to see their posts.

Unfortunately, in their quest to gain more of this engagement, often times users are practicing what Facebook refers to as engagement baiting, which they do not endorse.

As a result, they have made an announcement that the engagement baiting will be means for penalizing as opposed to rewarding. Those doing the baiting will get fewer friends seeing their posts, not more friends seeing their posts.

We have provided you with an explanation of the 5 main engagement baiting post types, along with examples. We have also made suggestions of more preferred methods of getting engagement. 

Facebook engagement baiting is not worth getting your pages and accounts penalized. There are better more effective and more efficient methods for creating engagement while showing yourself as a leader and an authority figure that others will happily follow.
